02 ▼ Opportunity

I was asked by a toy innovation house to explore interactions and form factors that enable the engaging learning play patterns using low-cost, no optic, display projections.

TheProblem

Knowing that the market is saturated with show n’ tell emotional response toys, I extended the challenge to explore interactions that stimulate early-development emotional awareness through cause and effect play.

TheSolution

03 ► Features

I ended up with a soft touch ball that simulates emotional responses not just through touch but during robust play interactions — capacitive touch and an internal accelerometer activate responsive animations and sound. No need to worry about getting too rough, Mooni will let you know how to play nicely.

05 ► Design Playbook

To build the system from scratch, I began by exploring menu flow and interactive simulation routines based on the low-cost tech integration possibilities. Using gif sketches to validate the most compelling experiences, I then mocked up age ideal form factors and designed the ideal mode states for development handoff.
